Give your refrigerator a helping hand this summer and help it beat the heat and keep cool when the temperature outside rises.
You might enjoy the sun and warm weather, but for your refrigerator this is the time of year when it works it hardest. In addition to telling your kids to keep the refrigerator door closed, we want to share some helpful tips to keep your refrigerator performing at its best and to help keep your food fresh.
Here are 5 tips to help your refrigerator keep it’s cool this summer…
1. Dust
The front of the frill should be kept free of dust and lint. This will allow free air flow to the condenser. Refrigerators Condenser Coils should be professionally cleaned at least once a year to remove dirt, lint or other accumulations to ensure top performance.
2. Give It Space
make sure your refrigerator isn’t pushed up against a wall to allow for air to circulate heat from the condenser. Leave a few inches between the wall and refrigerator.
3. Inspect The Seals
Take a close look at the seals of the fridge and freezer section to make sure that they are in good condition. A worn-out seal will let cool air escape from the inside, which in turn makes your refrigerator slog harder.
4. Keep It Sealed
Always cover liquids and wrap foods before storing them in the fridge or freezer. Uncovered food and beverages release moisture that make the compressor work harder.
5. Avoid Overfilling
Fill your fridge, but don’t overfill it. Leaving room for air circulation is necessary. If you don’t have very much food stored inside, keep a pitcher of water on a shelf to fill overly open areas and balance the temperature inside.
