A Small Leak Can Lead To A VERY BIG Problem

A leaking appliance should never be ignored.

A common issue with many household appliances is leaking. Leaking should never be something to be overlooked. It may start as a small drip that can eventually turn into a major catastrophe.

Water lines are connected to many of the appliances used throughout your home such as your refrigerator, dishwasher, ice makers, garbage disposals and washing machines (and dryers if they have a steam setting).

Water lines can have their issues. When was the last time you inspected your water lines?

Our suggestion is that you inspect your water lines at least twice a year.

Here are some things to look out for that could cause leaks…

Refrigerators:
A leak from your refrigerator could be from a blocked defrost drain, a faulty water line, broken ice maker or broken water filter.

Dishwashers:
A leak from your dishwasher could be caused by something as simple as the spray arms being blocked, a clogged drain pump, or even your dishwasher not being level. It is also highly recommended that the lower inspection panel be removed at least once a year to check the plumbing connections underneath.

Washing Machines:
Water fill hoses are a common issue for leaks from your washing machine (and steam dryer). Water lines can become brittle over time, causing leaks from the connectors or leaks could result from something internal to the washing machine. Upgrading to stainless steel braided hoses (which we keep on our trucks) will typically cause less hose leaking issues.

Garbage Disposals:
If you notice water under your sink, you might have an issue with your garbage disposal. It could be a leak from the connection to the drain pipe or it could be that your disposal has a leak and it might be time for an upgrade.
