A common issue with many household appliances is leaking. Leaks are something that should never be overlooked. It may start as a small drip, but if left undiscovered, can eventually turn into a much larger catastrophe.
Water lines connect to many of the appliances in your home. In your kitchen water lines are attached to the refrigerator, ice maker and dishwasher. In your laundry room you can find water lines attached to your washing machine and even your dryer if it has a steam setting.
Water leaking from your appliance or even the water line attached to an appliance can lead to a very big problem if left undetected or ignored.
When was the last time you inspected your appliances and water lines?
Our suggestion is that you perform these inspections at least twice a year.
A leaking appliance should not be ignored. Here are some things to look out for that could cause leaks...
1. Refrigerator
A leak from your refrigerator could be from a blocked defrost drain, a faulty water line, broken ice maker or broken water filter.
2. Dishwasher
A leak from your dishwasher could be caused by something as simple as the spray arms being blocked, a clogged drain pump, or even your dishwasher not being level. It is also highly recommended that the lower inspection panel be removed at least once a year to check the plumbing connections underneath.
3. Washing Machine
Water fill hoses are a common issue for leaks from your washing machine (and steam dryer). Water lines can become brittle over time, causing leaks from the connectors or leaks could result from something internal to the washing machine. Upgrading to stainless steel braided hoses (which we keep on out trucks) will typically cause fewer hose leaking issues.
