Let’s Get Ready For Grilling Season

Here’s how to get your gas grill ready for the grilling season and keep it performing well throughout:

Pre-Season Grill Prep

1. Deep Clean

Turn off the propane tank and disconnect the gas line.

  • Remove the grates and any heat deflectors or lava rocks (depending on your grill model).
  • Scrub the grates with a grill brush and soapy water. You can soak them for stubborn grime.
  • Wash the interior and exterior surfaces with warm, soapy water.
  • Clean the burners by brushing off any debris and checking the gas ports for clogs (you can use a toothpick for this). Wipe them down with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly.
  • Consult your grill’s manual for specific cleaning instructions for any additional components.
  • Rinse everything thoroughly and allow it to dry completely before reassembling.

2. Leak Check

Once everything is dry, reconnect the gas line. Brush a soapy water solution onto the gas line connection. Turn on the gas and check for bubbles, which would indicate a leak. Tighten the connection if necessary, but if you can’t fix the leak, don’t use the grill and call Appliance Master.

3. Burner Test

Turn on the burners as usual and check for even flames. If a burner has uneven flames, it might require cleaning the ports again or replacing the burner. Call Appliance Master for repairs or replacements.

Seasonal Maintenance Tips

1. Clean After Every Use

  • Preheat the grill on high for 10-15 minutes with the lid closed to burn off any leftover food particles.Brush the grates with a grill brush while still hot.

2. Inspect and Replace

  • Regularly inspect the gas hose for cracks or wear and tear. Replace it if you find any damage.
  • Check the igniter functionality and replace it if needed.
  • Replace worn-out parts like grates or burners to maintain optimal performance.

Call Appliance Master if any parts need to be repaired or replaced.

3. Protect Your Grill

Use a fitted cover to shield the grill from the elements and prevent dust buildup.

By following these steps, you can ensure your gas grill is clean, safe, and ready to deliver delicious food all season long.

Watch our Facebook Live where Bill goes through the steps of a hot cleaning. Softening and burning off the buildup on your grates is easier this way. Once cooled, you can use a wire brush to scrub the burner assemblies too.

Health Benefits of Grilling:
Grilling is often considered a healthier cooking method compared to frying because it allows excess fat to drip away from the food. Additionally, grilling can enhance the flavor of foods without the need for excessive seasoning or added fats.
